England have qualified for the finals of next year's European Championships.

In the final game of the qualification, Fabio Capello's team drew 2-2 with Montenegro, a result that confirms England's qualification as group winners.

Montenegro, who finished the group in second place, will take part in the play offs

On a nervy night in Podgorica, England took the lead courtesy of an Ashley Young header.

Darren Bent increased England's lead before Elsad Zverotic pulled one back at the end of the first half.

Montenegro rallied in the second half, scoring a deserved late equaliser through Andrija Delibasic.

"We're very disappointed to concede late on," said England Captain John Terry, "but we're through and top of the group".

Despite qualification, the performance was marred by a red card for striker Wayne Rooney who now faces a ban for the start of next year's tournament.
