Technology allows us to switch the world from black and white to colour again at the click of a button, which makes this video from artist Eran Amir all the more remarkable.
A pallid breakfast scene is gradually brought to life in vibrant colour inside 2 minutes, without any editing or any digital input whatsoever.
Instead, it's a mixture of clever choreography and - we suspect - a lot of practice.
What we first assume is a view through a black and white lens is revealed to actually be a paint job: Amir and the things around him have been painted black and white, and the ways he and his off-screen assistants gradually reintroduce colour to the scene is great fun to watch.
