The BBC has removed one its senior editors from its election coverage after she sent a #WhyImVotingUkip tweet that accused the party of racism and sexism.
The Guido Fawkes blog reported on Wednesday that BBC News Channel deputy editor Jasmine Lawrence had tweeted: "#WhyImVotingUkip to stand up for white, middle class, middle aged men w sexist /racist views, totally unrepresented in politics today."
The offending tweet led to Lawrence being removed from election coverage
Lawrence's Twitter account @journomummy has since been deleted. Her profile does state: "Any views displayed are my own & not those of the BBC."
A BBC spokesman said: “Jasmine Lawrence was tweeting from a personal account. She has been reminded of her responsibility to uphold BBC guidelines.
"She has deactivated her twitter account and will now be playing no part in the BBC’s election coverage in coming days.”

The BBC Charter includes and obligation to "ensure that controversial subjects are treated with due accuracy and impartiality."
Ukip leader Nigel Farage told the Daily Mail: ‘For this senior figure in the BBC to show such prejudice when she works for the public service broadcaster is astonishing. If the BBC are serious about challenging bias she should be fired immediately.’
Farage's party appeared to be very popular on Twitter on Wednesday morning, with multitudes taking to their keyboards to voice why they would be voting for the Eurosceptic party - but most of the #WhyImVotingUkip tweet were satirical in nature.
