Looking for face painting inspiration for a child's birthday party, school fete or Halloween?

How about this fierce lion face paint design? It's much simpler than it looks to create, requires just four colours and can be completed in three quick steps.

Big cat designs work really well on children's faces, as they have small button noses and round cheeks - which are perfect for whiskers.

So what are you waiting for? Get into the jungle swing and give your child something to roar about with this amazing lion face paint design.

Top tip: Put your non-painting hand on the child's head. It really helps the child to sit still while you work, and it allows you to balance yourself so you have a steady hand.

Step one

Starting with a clean face, use a brush to apply yellow face paint to cover the whole face. For extra effect, use white face paint around the mouth and eyes.

Step two

Use a sponge to lightly dab brown face paint to create a border around the face.

Step three

Take black face paint and use a fine brush to add the lion's nose, mouth, whiskers and eyebrows, not forgetting a light mane around the whole face.

Now you're ready to roar!
