Facebook Is Making Massive Changes To Your Timeline

Get ready to say goodbye to a familiar icon.

Get ready for video to takeover your Facebook timeline.

The social media giant is making a big push towards live video by replacing the Messenger tab with a new video tab.

Facebook rolled out its Live video last year but this is a fresh attempt to get everyone more engaged with live streaming.

As part of the overhaul, Facebook is introducing new features including the ability to add filters to your footage and select who you would like to "go live" with.

According to the social media giant, 'Live for Groups and Events' is designed to help you take selected people behind the scenes of a birthday party or gig.

You'll also be able to doodle over your video footage and invite people to watch with you.

The new tab is being rolled out to selected users to begin with, so don't say goodbye to Messenger just yet.

Facebook's Chief Product Officer, Chris Cox, announced the new features in a live video (obviously).

Earlier this year, Mark Zuckerberg made it clear that he is highly interested in virtual reality as another form of video.

"People will always want more immersive ways to express themselves," he told German newspaper, Die Welt.
