A 15-year-old boy arrested at a school on suspicion of attempted murder has been bailed.
The youngster was held at The Swinton High School, Salford, minutes after a 17-year-old boy suffered multiple stab wounds at a bus stop in Chorley Road around 500 yards from the school on Tuesday morning.
The injured youth, who is not a student at the school, remains in a stable condition in hospital.
Two boys tried to gain entry to the school after the attack but were stopped by staff and police were called.
On Wednesday, a spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: “A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and, after consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, he has been bailed until October 24 2017 pending further inquiries.”
