These days, laptops seem to be the way forward, you can do anything on them! From watching something on Netflix to playing the latest game; laptops have changed the world. These portable small boxes behold everything you can dream of, but maybe in a lower quality... The way laptops have evolved into basically a mini-cinema is amazing.
However, the difference is quite big. At the cinema you have that sick feeling in your stomach, where you've just sneaked some food in, or got in to an R-rated when you're three years too young. Whereas with a laptop, you're shamefully eating away at the snacks you found down the side of your bed, whilst needing the toilet. It maybe so close, but it's also so far.
Laptops are going to be the downfall of the human race - they'll become so convenient we'll never have to move a muscle again. In the film About a Boy, Hugh Grant talks about how he's an island. "In my opinion, all men are islands. And what's more, now's the time to be one. This is an island age." I think we could connect this to modern day teenagers, as all we do is lounge around drowning ourselves in false promises and ambitions. We all have become our own island.
We abuse the power we have when it comes to using technology. Technology should not be used as a gateway for free things. For example, people download music for free rather than buying it from the shops, or just find a website that has the latest film rather than going to the cinema.
Although the artists and film crew lose out on money, the economy does too! Our generation should remember this - it maybe cheaper for us to do it, but the world as a whole? No. Even if it means waiting months on end, or saving up for it, everyone as a whole should not find the easy free way for anything, although it may save us as a person money, it's costing the wrest of the world.
The number of illegally downloaded films in the UK has gone up nearly 30% in five years. This shows how easy it is for people to abuse technology and how we're always finding new ways to break the system, this shows how younger generations abuse technology.
Technology is evolving too fast. It's changing the way people live and work, even though tech is remarkably helpful, it's also slowly destroying our economy.
