Every fashion season offers a plethora of weird, wonderful and downright wacky catwalk shows that catch the eye of the media. For AW13 there was one show in London that shone above the rest - MAN's Craig Green. A newcomer to the 'London Collections: Men's scene, Green sent models down the catwalk with huge planks of driftwood covering their faces. A look to try for the new season? I think not. So with autumn creeping upon us and a whole host of crazy and coveted looks to choose from, I've deciphered three wearable autumn trends you need to know.

Man Up: The bomber jacket

Suave, sophisticated and with a sportswear influence, the humble bomber jacket is having a resurgence on the menswear market. It may conjure up memories of Renton, aka Ewan McGregor sporting a rather grubby, though typical 90s version in Trainspotting, or Ryan Gosling donning that gold bomber in Drive. But forget those; AW13's bomber jackets are much more refined with a slim fit finish. Christopher Raeburn's utilitarian take on the bomber in khaki is the perfect off-duty cover up, whilst Calvin Klein's iteration is sleek in stripped back black. Stick to muted colours, textured fabrics and a classic varsity baseball jacket style to send you confidently into the new season.

Print: Check this out

Forget grunge connotations, autumn's checks are classically distinguished in sombre tones and Savile Row styles. Oversized or discreet, casual or tailored, designers had fun with all manner of plaid. One singular checked piece is all you need for the new season. Go all out lumberjack with Lou Dalton's classically checked shirts or alternatively opt for layers, making a thin structured blazer your choice of checked clothing. Hackett's orange-toned number with wide lapels screams Oxford grad-about-town and is the perfect look for the dapper gent this autumn.

Be Bold: Be orange

Hi-vis safety orange washed out the AW13 catwalks. Unashamedly bold, designers embraced this refreshing tone to brighten up the usually darker season. Although a striking shade, orange is a colour that can be worn as a statement or as a clever accent, either way it's up to you. In my opinion, Topman Design's head-to-toe looks were a little too OTT on the tang. Oliver Spencer's splash of orange under heavy jackets and oversized holdalls accentuated an otherwise dowdy look with a refreshing twist. Perfectly placed, I say it's all you need to achieve that slice of new season style.
