Firefighters in Lacey, Washington were called to a small mobile home fire to find that while the humans were safely outside, a small family of hamsters were still in danger.

Tweeting their progress live the firefighters were able to break into the house, put out the fire and rescue the tiny critters.

Thanks to their specially designed animal rescue equipment the firefighters were able to administer oxygen to 'Oreo', 'Madonna' and their three babies.

Sadly one of the babies didn't make it however the rest survived having been treated in accordance with the 'Pet Emergency Pocket Guide' that all Lacey firefighters carry with them.
