Who’s your favourite Disney prince or princess?

Chances are, you can name one without even thinking about it - for me it’s Belle (from Beauty and the Beast, of course. I can sing every word to the opening sequence, and once did a karaoke duet to ‘Tale as old as time’. Yep. 

Whether you’re an ‘old’ Disney fan (think Sleeping Beauty, Snow White) or ‘new’ aficionado (Frozen, Mulan), you’re bound to feel fondly about one or two of its central characters – the princes and princesses, of course.

Aurora

Princess Aurora, also known as Sleeping Beauty, appears in Walt Disney Productions’ 16th animated feature film Sleeping Beauty, in 1959.

Eric

Prince Eric appears in Disney’s 1989 animated feature film, The Little Mermaid. He falls in love with Ariel, who gives up her voice to be with him. 

Elsa

Elsa is princess of the fictional Scandinavian Kingdom of Arendelle, heiress to the throne with magical Frozen powers. 

Phillip

Prince Phillip is the love interest of Princess Aurora in the same 1959 animated feature film, Sleeping Beauty.

Merida

Famous for her long, curly red locks, Merida of DunBroch is the bold and fiery centrepiece of the 2012 Disney Pixar film, Brave. 

Nala

Lion cub Nala, while not a human princess, earns her royal stripes when her pal turned mate, Simba, becomes The Lion King. Her name means “gift” in Swahili.

Naveen

Prince Naveen appears in Disney’s 2009 animated feature film The Princess and the Frog. He was transformed into a frog by a voodoo witch doctor – and can only be made human again by kissing a princess.

Jasmine

Princess Jasmine appears in Walt Disney Pictures’ 31st animated feature film Aladdin, which came out in 1992. 

John

Prince John is a mountain lion in the 1973 Disney film, Robin Hood. He was voiced by the late Peter Ustinov and is based on the real King John of England. 

Belle

The non-conforming, bookworm daughter of a mad inventor, Belle appears in Walt Disney Pictures’ 30th animated feature film Beauty and the Beast. 

Tiana

A gifted cook, Tiana is a fictional character in Walt Disney Pictures’ 49th animated feature film The Princess and the Frog, which came out in 2009.
