Hello summer! We’ve been waiting for you for ages. Long days filled with sunshine, picnics, outdoor adventures and warm evenings - and the best of the season’s sweet treats. To celebrate the summer, we challenged talented recipe blogger Julia from Vikalinka to create us some extra special milkshake recipes - and she certainly delivered. From a strawberry shortcake shake to an American s’mores-inspired campfire shake, your kids will love these indulgent recipes.

Says Julia: “What could be more glorious than a thick and creamy milkshake after a day spent in the sun? I cannot think of many. They are delicious and a snap to make! Here are a few tips that will help you to make a milkshake that will rival any store-bought one!”

  • Always use vanilla ice-cream as a base, and then add extra flavours of your choice.
  • Ice-cream straight from the freezer doesn’t blend well with milk. To achieve the creamiest consistency take your ice-cream out of the freezer 15 minutes prior to making milkshakes. It should be easily scoopable but not runny!
  • Use full-fat ice-cream and whole milk for best results.
  • It is all about the perfect ratio of ice cream to milk!
  • Finally, experiment with flavours as nothing is off limits!

(Note: Never leave your children alone in the kitchen mid-cooking session and  drum into them that hot pans and ovens can be dangerous. You and your children should enjoy all sweets and treats as part of a balanced diet and active lifestyle)

To get kids talking about farming, milk and cows, Cadbury has launched Adopt A Cow - a fun campaign where families can adopt a cow and have the chance to win a farm-tastic weekend away to meet their new friend.
