Just days after the blockbuster movie's directors said they were too exhausted to make a Frozen sequel, it seems they were throwing us a dummy - because the Walt Disney Company told its annual shareholders meeting plans are afoot.

John Lasseter, chief creative officer at Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and DisneyToon Studios, made the announcement with Disney chief Bob Iger.

John said: "We enjoyed making 'Frozen Fever' so much and being back in that world with those characters.

"Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we're taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that."

There is no indication yet of when work will begin or when the film will hit out cinema screens.

Disney posted on Twitter that the first film's directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck are back on board for the project.

And cast member Kristen Bell also shared the happy news with her Twitter followers...while hugging a bag of ice!

Frozen grossed over £1billion at the box office since its release in November 2013, while merchandising and the DVD has seen the figure soar.

It tells the story of Anna, a princess who sets off on an journey to find her estranged sister, Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom in eternal winter.

Yesterday, the Frozen Fever song Make Today a Perfect Day was released on iTunes. The short sequel to Disney's animated favourite will be played before screenings of Cinderella from tomorrow.
