Frozen's director has apologised for the wild popularity of the songs in the blockbuster Disney animation.

Infectiously hummable 'Let It Go' has inspired hundreds of spoofs and covers as well as winning an Academy Award for best song.

But director Jennifer Lee said she appreciates that many people are probably sick to death of hearing it – for which she wants to say 'Sorry'!

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter she said: "A year ago, I'd meet people who, when they found out who I was, they'd say 'Oh, we love the songs! We sing them all the time'.

"Now they're like, 'Yep, we're still listening to those songs'.

"I've gone from, 'Thank you' to 'Sorry!'"

Jennifer said she's still amazed by the film's global impact and particularly how it connects with young girls.

She's also used the film and its 'strong female lead characters' - sisters Anna and Elsa - as inspiration for her daughter, who has experienced bullying in school.

Jennifer said: "I was bullied a lot as a kid, too, so we try to look at the world like Anna and Elsa do - how they question, 'Is who I am OK?' - but always manage to be true to themselves."

A sequel to the massively successful film is being planned, according to star Idina Menzel.

In an interview with the Telegraph, Idina, who was the voice of Elsa in the Oscar-nominated Disney film, says her ice queen character might be returning to the big screen.

When asked about what she could say about rumours of a stage musical and a sequel, she responded that 'they're all in the works'.
