'Frozen Planet' Collects Three BAFTA Craft Awards, 'Sherlock', Brian Eno Also Winners

'Frozen Planet' Shrugs Off Controversy For BAFTA Wins

Frozen Planet, which was hit by controversy after it emerged its footage of newborn polar bear cubs was actually filmed in an animal park and not in any polar region, scooped three gongs at the BAFTA Craft Awards on Sunday night.

The hit BBC1 nature documentary, presented by David Attenborough, won prizes for best Editing: Factual, Photography: Factual and Sound: Factual at the awards, which recognise behind-the-scenes talent.

It was also a good night for Steven Moffat's Sherlock drama, which scored three gongs of its own. Moffat picked up an award for his writing on the series starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

And former Roxy Music star and longtime screen composer Brian Eno was awarded with his first-ever BAFTA for his soundtrack to a gritty gang thriller.

The musician, best known as a pioneer of ambient music, won the gong for his work on Channel 4's Top Boy.

The backroom teams behind successes including Channel 4's Educating Essex, BBC2's The Shadowline and the X Factor final on ITV1 were also recognised.

The event - formally known as the British Academy Television Craft Awards, were held at the Brewery in London.

There were also awards for Jacqueline Fowler's work in make-up and hair design on The Crimson Petal And The White, and recognition for costume designer Charlotte Walter who worked on the World War One drama Birdsong.

Actor Adrian Dunbar presented the Special Award to colourist Aidan Farrell.

Farrell, who has worked on shows including Wallander and Downton Abbey, said: "I have always strived to make images and pictures come alive and evolve my style in the way that artists and photographers do."
