Galyn Görg – who appeared in The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air and Twin Peaks – has died at the age of 55.

Her death was announced by her family on a GoFundMe page set up to help with funeral costs.

They explained that Galyn had been recently diagnosed with cancer “throughout her entire body and lungs”, and was told she had just days to live.

“After remaining optimistic and praying for a miracle, she has sadly passed,” they said.

“We were unaware of just how sick she was as the diagnosis was a shock to the entire family. We hastily bought tickets to Oahu without a second thought, as she was getting treatment there. Since spending a great deal of time and money, we are now looking for donations for funeral services.”

Galyn died on 14 July, a day before what would have been her 56th birthday.

She acted opposite Will Smith in an episode of The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air in 1996, playing Helena, a girl who went up against the main character in a boxing match.

Her other credits included playing Angie in RoboCop 2, Nancy O’Reilly in three episodes of Twin Peaks and Lt. Leora Maxwell in M.A.N.T.I.S., which made history as the first live-action US series to feature a Black superhero as its main character.

More recently, Galyn appeared in two episodes of the US comedy Parks And Recreation, playing Josephina Academia, and the season four finale of How To Get Away With Murder.
