Orlando Cruz, the first openly gay boxer, is to take part in a world title fight this weekend wearing rainbow short and pink gloves.
The 32-year-old Puerto Rican, who is fighting Orlando Salido in Las Vegas on Saturday, will wear the colourful garb to make a statement about gay rights, while the pink gloves are in support of breast cancer awareness.
Cruz, who came out in October 2012 making him the first openly gay professional in the sport’s history, is due to marry his boyfriend in New York in November.
