The TOWIE star had faced cricketer Ryan Sidebottom in the skate-off, after her latest routine with partner Matt Evers scored just 15.5 out of 40.

Prior to taking to the ice for the second time, Gemma was resigned to the fact she was going home, admitting she felt it was her time, having been bottom of the leaderboard every week bar one.

All four judges – Jason Gardiner, Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean – opted to save Ryan and partner Brandee Malto.

Jason couldn’t resist one last dig at Gemma, who he famously had an on-air spat with earlier in the series, remarking: “It is very easy for me to say this and it gives me great pleasure to say it that I will be saving Ryan and Brandee.”

Of the result, Gemma said: “I’ve had fun. I’m have a bit of like intuition and I did say tonight’s my night and that’s why I’m just going to come out and have fun. I just want to bow out gracefully now. It’s time to let them all go on. I wish them all the best of luck; they work so hard.“

Asked if she’d continue skating, she quipped: “No probably not. But you know what, I have enjoyed working on my fitness and do want to keep that up.“

As well as her on-air row with Jason, Gemma has served up many other memorable moments during her time on the show, including the time she fell flat on her face during one performance

She’s also had to deal with many accusations of behind-the-scenes diva behaviour levelled against her in the press and on social media.

Judge Ashley Banjo also praised her for her resilience against the comments, telling her: “I want to say well done for putting the work in like you did and also I want to add that outside of the competition, you have to put up with some real rubbish online so I just want to say well done for dealing with it.”

‘Dancing On Ice’ continues next Sunday at 6pm on ITV with a double elimination.
