Chancellor George Osborne was left red-faced by a SEVEN-YEAR-OLD today when he failed to answer a basic maths question.
Not great news for the economy, eh!
The Chancellor was being interviewed by a panel of children on Sky News about the economy.
But he squirmed when seven-year-old Sam Raddings asked him what seven times eight is.
Flustered, Mr Osborne eventually replied: "I've made it a rule in life not to answer a whole load of maths questions," leaving it up to young Sam to confirm that the answer is in fact 56.
Many were quick to ridicule the Chancellor for dodging the question.
One wrote on Twitter: "It's a little worrying that the Chancellor George Osborne doesn't seem to know simple maths."
Earlier, Mr Osborne admitted he wished he had done more to help Britain's economy when the coalition first came to power.
Mr Osborne told the panel of children he wished his attempts to reform the economy had gone further.
Asked about his greatest regret since coming to office in 2010, he said: "When you get into office that's your opportunity to take some really big decisions. And we did take some big decisions because then you've got a few years to see them played out.
"But actually I look back and think there's even more we could have done to fix some of the economic problems and I want to go on therefore taking decisions that will help create jobs. If anything, it's like I wish we'd done even more."
Mr Osborne defended the arguments that occur during Prime Minister's Questions as 'passion'.
The wide-ranging interview also saw Mr Osborne reveal a passion for 'cheesy pop songs' and a penchant for listening to US hip hop star Pharrell Williams while out running in the park.
