A German theme park has closed a new new ride because of its unfortunate resemblance to swirling swastikas.
The so-called Eagle Fly had only recently been added to the Tatzmania park in Löffingen, in Germany’s Black Forest area, when the attraction drew comparisons to the symbol synonymous with Nazism.
Nazi symbols and propaganda are banned in the country under a post-Second World War German criminal code.
According to The Local website, the owner of the park said he didn’t realise the resemblance until he saw a video circulating online.
The ride gained notoriety after a clip was posted on Reddit with users shocked by the mistake.
One person wrote: “You really do not have the words. Something like that would have to be banned.”
Rüdiger Braun told SWR that he wants to apologise “to everyone who feels disturbed or offended by our design”.
He said: “I’d like to stress how sorry we are to anyone who has felt at all insulted by this design.”
