Gillian Anderson has hit back at surgery rumours, amid speculation about her appearance.
The ‘X-Files’ star branded the Daily Mail “sad”, after she was the subject of an article where plastic surgery experts were asked their opinion on what procedures she’d had done.

They claimed that Gillian had probably had a nose job, filler inserted into her lips and cheeks, Botox in her forehead, a procedure to tighten her neck, a non-surgical procedure to lift chin, as well as surgery on her eyelids.
Responding to the story, she tweeted: “If it weren't so sad, this bollocks would have made my day.”
She also linked to a tweet posted by the Everyday Sexism page, which read: “How we respond to the release of new work by a talented and successful woman in 2016.... #EverydaySexism.”
Gillian has previously admitted that the idea of surgery had “crossed her mind”, saying in a 2013 interview: “I remember a couple of years ago looking in the mirror, I noticed some changes. I was so shocked that for a few seconds I convinced myself I’d eaten something I was allergic to.
“[I had a] period of time thinking, ‘Surely something can be done without having to be cut into?’ Then eventually you think, ‘Oh, there’s not.’”
Gillian is currently back on screen as FBI agent Dana Scully in a revived series of ‘The X-Files’, which was recently brought back after 14 years off air.
She has also just finished filming a third series of crime drama ‘The Fall’ alongside Jamie Dornan, which is set to air later this year.
