Both take part on grass and involve large quantities of alcohol. That's just about where the similarities end between the Wimbledon Championships and Glastonbury music festival.

The gates have opened for the oldest tennis tournament in the world and the iconic music festival, with hundreds of thousands of revellers expected to descend on both.

Here, we take a look at the crowds enjoying both events, with wellies and strawberries aplenty…

Tennis fans are set to enjoy more beautiful weather at Wimbledon, after thousands watched Andy Murray claim victory in glorious sunshine.

Despite a grey sky, there hasn't been any need for wellies at Glasto yet - yet - with no rain falling at the site so far.

However, more widespread showers are expected by Thursday, just in time for the traditionally-wet festival to kick off in Pilton, Somerset.

The music begins on some of the smaller stages at lunchtime, but the festival starts in earnest on Friday, when the likes of Lily Allen, Paolo Nutini and Blondie are on the bill.

Other acts scheduled to play to over 200,000 punters over the weekend include Robert Plant, Haim, Goldfrapp, London Grammar, Ellie Goulding, Metallica, Lana Del Ray, Ed Sheeran and country music legend Dolly Parton.
