Fatal Attraction star Glenn Close has the following advice for budding thespians: try a cult! The actress told New York magazine that her family joined the conservative Moral Re-Armament sect with her family when she was just seven years old, and explained that she toured the world as part of a Christian musical collective 'Up With People' until she left/escaped to go to college. I was going to mock 'Up With People' and say that it sounds like the worst thing in the world, but actually heaps of former castmembers have sweet stuff to say about 'Up The People' here. So perhaps it really was just like Glee, only TOTALLY NOT GAY, ALRIGHT?
Gutsy old Glenn isn't one to play the urchin about her scary upbringing, however, and instead she generously credits the cult with honing her acting skills, since she was forced to conceal her true self from the weirdos around her. "It was a cult, where everyone was told to think alike, and that's devastating. I decided that I would not trust even my instincts. Because I didn't know what they were. Everything had been dictated," she said. "It also gives you a huge sense of looking from the outside in, and I think that in many ways that has been very good as an actor, because you are somebody who is asked to go into a character... I always felt that I was held together with Scotch tape and paper clips, and, as an actor, that's good."

Whitney Houston is totally broke
Continuing our impromptu madness special, we bring you the sad news that Whitney Houston's fortune has gone up in smoke. The singer sought help for her crack addiction last year, which was sad, because back in 2002 she told Diane Sawyer: "First of all, let's get one thing straight. Crack is cheap. I make too much money to ever smoke crack. Let's get that straight. Okay? We don't do crack. We don't do that. Crack is whack."
Times have changed. "She called someone to ask for $100," a source tells Radar. "It is so sad. She should have Mariah Carey money, and she's flat broke."
Remember how back in 1992 we suffered ten whole weeks with "I Will Always Love You" blocking the number one spot? It was all for nought.
Aretha Franklin won't be rushed down the aisle
Three weeks ago, when Aretha Franklin (69) announced her engagement to longterm friend Willie Wilkerson, I know what you were all thinking. "She's too young! It will never last! There's plenty of time for that later! Stop this frenzied aisle-dash!" Thankfully, Aretha has heeded our warnings, and the pair have called it off because things "were moving too fast".
