Gogglebox Boss Denies Show Is Faked After Jenny Guesses Royal Baby Name

🤔

The creator of Gogglebox has denied the show is faked after some viewers questioned how one of the show’s stars could have correctly guessed the name of the royal baby.

On Friday night’s show, regular Goggleboxer Jenny predicted that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby would be called Archie.

But some viewers called out the scene because the royal baby announcement was made in the daytime, while Jenny was reacting to an evening news report.

The response prompted the Channel 4 show’s creator Tania Alexander to deny suggestions that Jenny was told about the baby’s name before the announcement was made.

She tweeted: “I would just like to confirm that our Jenny did genuinely guess the name Archie before it was announced @leegogglebox #gogglebox #geniusjenny.”

It’s worth noting that Gogglebox is filmed across two nights of the week, so the stars of the show don’t watch everything as it’s being broadcast live.

So it’s likely that segment was filmed before the announcement was made and the final edit, which is done on a Thursday, made things look confusing.

So, as Tania tweeted, Jenny is basically a genius.

Last month, former Gogglebox star June Bernicoff admitted she finds it too difficult to watch TV since the death of her husband and former co-star, Leon.

June and Leon were among viewers’ favourites throughout their time on Gogglebox, which saw them passing commentary on the week’s TV in their own unique style.

In late 2017, it was announced that Leon had died at the age of 83, with June deciding to leave the show shortly afterwards, and she’s now revealed she’s given up watching TV completely.
