A minister has tweeted her opposition to a proposed anti-Semitic march through North London by a group of alleged Nazi sympathisers.
Baroness Susan Williams, a junior communities minister, tweeted the #GoldersGreenTogether hashtag on Monday in solidarity with the local community, which has rallied against the demonstration by what campaigners call "a tiny group Nazi Supporters".
The march is planned on July 4 in Golders Green, home to a large Jewish community.
Baroness Williams was joined by tweeters in opposition to the march, which is a part of a wider campaign to show community solidarity in the run up to the event.
The hashtag was created by the London Jewish Forum and anti-racism campaigners Hope Not Hate.
More than 11,000 people have signed a Change.org petition calling on the Home Office to ban the march.
Mike Penning, the policing minister, said in a statement: "Police have a range of powers to deal with static demonstrations - including imposing restrictions on where they can be held, the length of time they can last and the number of people who can take part.
“The Home Secretary has written to the Metropolitan Police Commissioner to urge him to use these powers and ensure that anyone who commits a criminal offence or demonstrates anti-Semitic hostility faces the full force of the law.”
The demo is being attended by different groups, including the New Dawn Party, group which tweeted back in May: "Oppose the 'Shomrim' demo, Golders Green. Details to follow....."

Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner told The Guardian she was concerned the reaction to the march could give it “the oxygen of publicity”.
She said: “However, if they do turn up and we do not show our solidarity, that’s worse, in my view. We have to make this show of strength.”
Mike Freer, the MP for Finchley and Golders Green, told The Jewish Chronicle: “We have to be careful we don't feed the egos of a relatively small group of people.
"It's right to show them they're not welcome... We need to make sure we remain calm and don't let this far-right group get under our skin.”
