A grandmother has told of her shock after an out-of-control Ford Mondeo ploughed into her lounge.
Andrea Barr had just nipped into her kitchen when the car smashed through the wall and ended up in her front room.
The 55-year-old said: “I heard a big bang. At first I thought it was the chimney pot falling in. I’d normally have been in the lounge. I would have been dead.
“I often sit on the piano stool near where the car stopped. I would have been in the path of the car
The driver of the car, thought to be a man in his 70s, was not injured in the smash near Colchester, in Essex on Saturday afternoon.
Mrs Barr, who suffers from multiple sclerosis and walks with two sticks, said: "I was very frightened. I just wanted to keep crying. I haven’t a clue how much it will cost to repair the house.”
Essex Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
