Granddaughter Gives Grandparents Touching Gift To Celebrate 65 Years Of Marriage

'Billie Wanda is the rose of my life'

A granddaughter has given her grandparents a touching gift to celebrate their marriage of 65 years.

Shalyn Nelson, a photographer, decided to do a free photo-shoot to show off her grandparents’ long-lasting love.

Joe Ray, 86, met his wife Billy Wanda Johnson, 83, while he was in college.

“My Papaw (Joe Ray) planted a rose bush outside of their bedroom window when they built their house,” she tells The Huffington Post via email.

“He has always said, ‘Billie Wanda is the rose of my life…But it does have a few thorns here and there…’,

As part of a wider project called ‘Love, The Nelsons’, which is dedicated to love and its power, Nelson decided to show the world what enduring love looked like.
