A 44-year-old granny who had no idea she was pregnant has given birth in a Derbyshire street.
Jane Eadie delivered her third baby after feeling unwell when out shopping in Belper with her husband Gary, 55, her daughter Elizabeth, son-in-law Andrew Anderson, 42, as well as grandson Andrew Jnr, aged four.
Jane had been complaining of stomach pains all morning but after sitting down on a bench to rest, Jane went into full blown labour and gave birth to a little boy as passers-by looked on in shock.
Jane said she realised she had been putting on weight, but thought it was because she had stopped taking a particular medication. She also thought she was menopausal!
Jane has called her new arrival, James.
James' big sister, Elizabeth told reporters:
'I just couldn't believe it. I just thought it was a dream until we saw the baby. He's wonderful. Everyone kept running up to us and going ah, congratulations.'
A clearly overwhelmed Jane told the BBC that James was 'just amazing'. You can hear more from Jane (and baby James!) in the BBC's video interview.
What a lovely, albeit unusual, birth story! We think this might just beat the bus stop birth from last month.
How would you cope with a surprise arrival? And at 44?!
