Banker Selasi Gbormittah then added:
2015 ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner Nadiya Hussain has previoulsy opened up about the racist abuse she has suffered.
Speaking on Radio 4’s ‘Desert Island Discs’, she said: “It has happened. Through my early teens when you had big things happening in the news like September 11...you do get abuse and I did get abuse.
“I’ve had things thrown at me and been pushed and shoved.”
She continued: “It sounds really silly because I feel like that’s just become part of my life now. I expect it. Absolutely I expect it. I expect to be shoved or pushed or verbally abused because it happens and it’s been happening for years.”
The seventh series of ‘Bake Off’ kicked off two weeks ago, and the most recent episode saw the show hit peak innuendo, as the double entendres reached new levels during Biscuit Week.
‘The Great British Bake Off’ continues on Wednesday (7 September) at 8pm on BBC One.
