Extra helpings are on the way 🍰

Channel 4 has confirmed good news for Great British Bake Off fans, revealing that the show will stay on our screens until at least 2021.

They have signed a deal with Love Productions, who actually make the show, to extend their partnership, agreeing to make two more series which will follow this year’s.

Channel 4 director Ian Katz shared his love for Bake Off following the news, calling the show “one of the best loved programmes on Channel 4, embodying the warmth, mischief and inclusivity for which the channel is known”.

The news was announced on Twitter, with a post that confirmed Junior Bake Off – which previously aired on CBBC, will also be airing for the first time since 2016:

Junior Bake Off will make its Channel 4 debut later this year, and Ian added that he’s delighted to ”be discovering a new generation of British baking talent” with the show.

Since moving over to Channel 4 in 2017, Bake Off has remained a huge hit with TV fans, and its inaugural set of episodes in its new home became the broadcaster’s biggest series in more than six years.

When Bake Off moved to Channel 4 they gave the presenting and judging line-up a shake-up, but kept the show’s key elements, and continued to air celebrity specials for charity and spin-off show Extra Slice.

A celebrity series of Bake Off is currently airing, with another new regular series, Channel 4′s third overall, will be on our screens this summer.
