Olympian Greg Rutherford Recreates Monty Python's Silly Walks Sketch (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

Who's That Doing Monty Python's Silly Walk?

If you're going to find someone to emulate Monty Python's epic Ministry Of Silly Walks sketch, you might as well make it someone with legs as long as John Cleese's.

And thankfully Olympic champion Greg Rutherford has just that.

The gold medal-winning long jumper was striding up and down Westminster Bridge (with a couple of other suited, booted and bowler-hatted chaps) to promote the new 'Bupa Brisk Walk'.

The 'Bupa Brisk Walk' - no really, it's an actual thing - is a novelty walk (no really, bear with us) designed by Bupa "to make walking more fun and encourage people to reconsider the health benefits of walking". Those health benefits being even greater if you do, indeed, walk in a very silly manner indeed.

The walk, which incorporates a leg flick and lunge (are you still with us?), burns an average of 350 calories in an hour - over double the normal calories expended on a regular stroll - and also gets the heart rate up to an average of 135 beats per minute, as opposed to the average 100 beats a minute when walking normally.

"People are shunning walking in favour of the car, so we wanted to come up with a way to encourage people to re-consider the health benefits of walking, while also making the act of putting one step in front of the other more fun," said Bupa medical expert and Team GB sports physician, Dr Tom Crisp. "Simply putting some 'oomph' into the way we walk can really pay dividends. We're encouraging everyone to build brisk walking into their daily routines - in whatever style they choose."

And if you want that style to be Greg's silly walk - well, simply follow his moves below!
