Gwyneth revealed on her website Goop that it it's all the rage after visiting a high-end retreat in Santa Monica called the Tikkun Holistic Spa.

Gwynnie reportedly experienced the procedure called the 'V-Steam' at the retreat last week, and wrote, "The real golden ticket here is the Mugworth V-Steam: You sit on what is essentially a mini-throne, and a combination of infrared and mugwort steam cleanses your uterus, et al." Riiight.

She adds: "It is an energetic release - not just a steam douche - that balances female hormone levels. If you're in LA, you have to do it."

According to US magazine, Gwyneth followed up the treatment with a nice full body scrub, massage and facial. Phew, slightly more normal.

The Tikkun website sings the praises of Mugwort, which, it says, "balances female hormone levels" and "also contains natural antibiotics and anti-fungal agents which is said to help maintain internal health as well as keep your skin looking young and healthy".

The site says the V-Steam is the "talk of the town", and it's not just about freshening up your lady garden. The website explains, "This steaming treatment stimulates the production of hormones to maintain uterine health, aids regular menstrual cycles, clears up hormonal acne, promotes circulation, and helps correct digestive disorders."

It can also, "ease fatigue, headaches, abdominal discomfort and nausea, lessen the effects of renal calculi, rheumatism, arthritis and gout, help fight infections, and kills intestinal worms." What? Ewww.

It's an ancient ritual practiced for hundreds of years in Korea, apparently. And now by Gwyneth Paltrow, too. Well, you've got to admire her for giving anything a go.
