A man has been charged with the murder of a carer whose body was found in Hyde Park earlier this month.
Hani Khalaf, 21, has been charged by detectives investigating the murder of 62-year-old Jairo Medina on Friday, August 12.
Medina, from Chelsea, was discovered shortly before 6am by a member of the public near Speakers’ Corner.
Khalaf of no fixed address appeared in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
He was unshaven and wore a grey prison-issue tracksuit when he appeared at court, the BBC report.
He spoke through an interpreter to confirm his name and date of birth.
Khalaf was remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.
Police were called to Hyde Park after a member of the public found a man with injuries.
Dozens of police officers cordoned off the area.
A post-mortem examination carried out last weekend showed Medina was the victim of an assault, but it is not yet clear what caused his death.
