September is set to save the summer that wasn't with forecasters predicting highs of 29 degrees (84F) this month.
Temperatures are expected to trend upwards from Tuesday, when highs of up to 19 (66F) are expected, and may last until November, the Evening Standard reports.
According to the Met Office this summer was the fourth coldest in 27 years, but that could all soon change, with forecasters saying hotter-than-normal weather is expected for the next three months.

Highs of up to 24 degrees (75F) are expected in the south east this week, as the "polar plume" caused by cold winds from Greenland is replaced by sunshine and dry skies.
Met Office expert Nicola Willis told the Standard: “There will be a lot of pleasant weather to be had for lot of people in dry and fine weather ahead, although with some cloud.
“We will lose fresher breezes on Monday and the northerly feed from Tuesday, so it will feel warmer in the sunshine.
“Warmer south-easterly air will arrive from the warm near continent from Wednesday, keeping temperatures rising, with 21C on Wednesday and the low 20s on Thursday, with similar possible on Friday in the East.”
