Deloitte, the administrators of HMV, has confirmed a further 60 redundancies have been made across HMV and Fopp Entertainments' head office network at Eastcastle Street (London), Marlow and Solihull.
UPDATE: 15:24 8 February, 2013 Chief executive Trevor Moore was named by Press Association as one of the casualties - his exit comes weeks after he said he was "convinced" the future of the chain could be secured.
Nick Edwards, joint administrator, said in a statement: "Following our announcement of the closure of 66 stores yesterday, it has been necessary to consider the head office support required for the reduced store portfolio. As a result of this review, a number of redundancies at the head office have been made.
"This has been a difficult decision, but a necessary one in restructuring the business. We would like to express our gratitude to staff for their continued support during the administration."
Earlier this month, Deloitte confirmed that 66 of the 220 stores would be shut over the next two months, putting more than 930 jobs at risk.
And in January, nearly 190 jobs were axed across its offices and distribution centres.
Staff used the company's official Twitter account to announce their own "mass execution" with workers tweeting live about redundancies being made across HMV's offices and distribution centres.
Tweeting with the hashtag #hmvXFactorFiring, the anonymous tweeter took over the @HMVtweets account. The previous tweet had been sent on January 14.
The tweeter apologised from having been away from the verified account for so long, and revealed the account had originally been set up by an unpaid intern. "Sorry we've been quiet for so long. Under contract, we've been unable to say a word, or -more importantly - tell the truth," the Twitter account wrote.
Senior managers appeared to be struggling to shut the feed down, with tweets being deleted within minutes, but the perpetrator continuing to post.
"We're tweeting live from HR where we're all being fired! Exciting!!" the first one read.
"There are over 60 of us being fired at once! Mass execution, of loyal employees who love the brand."
Panic in head office appeared to ensue. "Just overheard our Marketing Director (he's staying, folks) ask "How do I shut down Twitter?" the account reported.
"Under usual circumstances, we'd never dare do such a thing as this. However, when the company you dearly love is being ruined and those hard working individuals, who wanted to make hmv great again, have mostly been fired, there seemed no other choice.
"Especially since these accounts were set up by an intern (unpaid, technically illegal) two years ago."
The hashtag #hmvXFactorFiring was trending on Twitter, even after all the tweets had been deleted.
