Hollyoaks’ Annie Wallace has made history, by becoming the first ever transgender actress to be nominated for a BAFTA Award.
The actress began playing Sally St. Claire in the show back in November 2015, and she’s now been recognised for her star turn, with a nod in the Best Actress - Television category, in the BAFTA Scotland Awards.
Annie has shared her delight on Twitter, posting:
BAFTA Scotland Direction Jude MacLaverty added (via the Metro): “It’s great. I don’t watch ‘Hollyoaks’ on a regular basis but I’m delighted. It’s brilliant, a completely great, diverse list.”
The two other nominees in the category are Caitriona Balfe, for her role in ‘Outlander’, and Catastrophe’s Ashley Jensen.
Annie has been a hit with ‘Hollyoaks’ fans, and also taken on a number of huge storylines, including one which saw her character revealed as John Paul McQueen’s biological parent.
