Jennifer Metcalfe and Gemma Merna, who play McQueen sisters Mercedes and Carmel, have revealed that they are both leaving ‘Hollyoaks’ this Autumn as part of a huge shake-up.
The actresses shared their news seperately, though it’s thought the pair will make a joint exit.

Gemma was the first to tell fans her new plans, writing on Twitter: “Morning all... thanks for all the lovely tweets today.
"I have loved working at @Hollyoaks for the past 8 years.
"I have met some great people and have some of the best friends I could ask for. I have some great story lines ahead of me and can't wait to get stuck into them.”
Jennifer then shared her news on Twitter on Tuesday.
Earlier this year, Jennifer revealed that a shake-up was in store, promising fans that the McQueen family will be at the centre of “one of the biggest things the show has ever done”.
"Most of my storylines have been big Mercedes ones, but this is all about the family,” she said. “There might be a pretty decent stunt involved, so we're all overly excited. I'd love to do my own stunts.”
"It's probably going to be one of the biggest things the show has ever done. We're all dead excited."
While Mercedes and Carmel are departing, Myra and Teresa McQueen are set to return later this year, and there will also be some new additions to the family.
