Claire Danes has teased ‘Homeland’ fans by revealing a key detail about the next series, stating that the show will introduce a female President of the United States.

The news comes at an interesting time, given the fact that Hillary Clinton has secured the Democratic Party nomination in the current election race.

Claire made the revelation at a New York event, reports Entertainment Weekly, telling the press that the female president will not be based on Hillary, but rather a “kind of a composite of all of the different candidates and a kind of... not rebellious necessarily, but she’s challenging norms and is a little threatening for that reason.”

The actress added that the new president also “gets along with Carrie Mathison pretty well".

Sadly, there’s a long wait before the new episodes, as the series isn’t expected to be shown until January next year.

The move is reminiscent of a previous series of ‘24’, which featured a black president, seven years before Barack Obama’s election.

Series two of the hit show saw David Palmer, played by Dennis Heysbert, assume the post, and begin calling the White House home.
