Whether curing a hangover as part of a hearty brunch or complementing a pasta dinner, people go crazy for bacon.
But there's nothing worse than greasy, undercooked or - worse still - charred bacon, so on International Bacon Day we thought it apt to share some top tips on how to cook bacon perfectly.
And, it seems, there is no one better placed than chef Adrian Ashby, chef and bacon enthusiast, to give you the low down.
"For me bacon cooking is from the heart - it's all about your personal preference - but it's also about a little common sense," he begins.
So far, so serious.
Adrian recommends cooking on a medium to high heat, applying even heat distribution between bacon slices, and cooking it in its own grease. Depending on your preference he recommends cooking for two to five minutes per side.
