How To Do The Easiest Statement Lip Ever (Inspired By The Spring/Summer 2014 Shows)

If you love wearing red lipstick you'll be happy to hear the beauty look isn't going anywhere for Spring/Summer 2014. And if you're a bit of a red lip novice? Don't worry - it is possible to wear this trend without feeling all self-conscious. Really!

Don't believe us? Mac Senior Makeup Artist Rebecca Butterworth treated us to a quick red lip demo during London Fashion Week and we can confirm two things: the new, raspberry red lip colour is easy-to-wear and best of all, it goes with everything.

So - first off - what kind of reds should we be buying?

"The fruity colours - raspberry, tomato, cherry, watermelon - they're all going to be big after the London shows", Butterworth told us.

However - the new red lip look isn't as refined as it has been. "At Mary Katrantzou's S/S14 show - the lip was diffused and slightly blurred", Rebecca said. "This is a great way to start wearing a statement lip colour if you're not used to it".

Fancy giving the blurred red look a try? Here's how to try the trend at home:

1. Scribble a lip pencil into the lips, starting at the centre. (Rebecca used Mac's pencil in Beet).

2. Use a fluffy eyeshadow brush to blend the colour otuwards from the centre.

3. Add your lipstick. (Rebecca used the Mac classic - Ruby Woo).

4. Use your brush to spread over the lips - it doesn't have to be perfect - keep it blurred around the edges.

Then you're done! As for the rest of the face, Rebecca told us to keep eye makeup as minimal as possible.

"On the models, I never use mascara but there aren't many people who are happy to go without this. Try creating a glossy eyelid instead, with a sparkly platinum eyeshadow shade".

Now it's just a case of showing off your perfect (and very on trend) pout....
