Do you need a miracle? Have you been waiting for that golden opportunity, that one big break that would finally change your life? Do you have an image in your head about how it will look, the route it will take, and what it will mean for your life when finally, it lands on your doorstep?
By no means have I learned all there is to know. On the contrary, the more I learn, the less I know.
But I have needed a miracle or two myself and there are two things I know for sure about those elusive little darlings.
The first is that miracles don't just happen. Neither do big breaks. You have to make them happen.
Just how do you do that?
By finding those golden opportunities - noticing them when they're out there somewhere or right there under your nose. By taking advantage of situations that could help you, and not dismissing them because of how it might look or what others might think or because you are afraid or you don't think you deserve something wonderful.
You find those opportunities by choosing not to give up on the miracle. You find them by daring to believe in yourself and in trusting your instincts, doing what you know to be right for you - and no one else.
Whether your miracle is finding a job, improving your health, opening your own shop or living the 'dream life' of a celebrity, all of it begins with your choice to keep believing that it will happen.
Only then will you be able to spot those golden opportunities, those bits of information and help that will guide you to where you want to be.
It's that old story about being an overnight success... after 27 years of hard work and effort.
The second thing I've learned about miracles is that no matter how you thought yours might look when it finally shows up, it could come in an entirely different package. You have this clear picture in your head, but then a box arrives and it's a completely different size and shape, and the wrapping and bow don't look anything like you imagined. And it took a totally different route to get to you than the one you expected.
But there it is. Your miracle, right there in front of you. And you can't believe your eyes because you didn't really think it would ever happen, but it's true, it's really true, there it is and no you are not hallucinating.
You've been working to make it happen for such a long time, wishing and hoping and praying and keeping that dream alive but why is it so hard to believe when it is finally coming true? You tell yourself that it's not real because it doesn't look anything like you thought it would so it can't be Your Miracle.
But it is.
Don't get too hung up on the specifics of how your miracle should look. You might disregard it and miss it completely. It could be waiting for you in a weird place. It could be hiding in a scary place. It could be stashed in an unusual place that is miles away from where you've been looking all these years. Trust in it, grab onto it, and don't let go.
Open your mind. Let go of your fear. Take a chance. And create your miracle.
