An article which claimed that a woman died 30 seconds after carrying out the Ice Bucket Challenge has been revealed as a fake - or rather, an intentional satire taken too seriously on social media.
The article was posted on the website Huzlers.com and Empirenews.com and quickly went viral as a result of the increased exposure the Ice Bucket Challenge has been receiving.
People took to Twitter to express their genuine upset having unfortunately not realised that it was, in fact, not real.
Well, it turns out that the article was a hoax as the website Huzlers.com is in fact a site that uses satire (albeit badly) as well as truth.
A disclaimer at the bottom of the site reads, “Huzlers.com is a combination of real shocking news and satire news to keep its visitors in a state of disbelief,”
The Ice Bucket Challenge has been taking over social media as more and more high-profile figures undertake the challenge in aid of ALS or Motor Neurone Disease.
Celebrities including Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears have all undertaken the challenge and started nominating other high-profile figures.
