A source told The Sun: “It’s an amazing opportunity for George. The group has floundered a bit, so it’s important for him to make a mark on his own.
“He hopes 'I’m A Celeb' will give him a chance to show there’s more to him than just being a boy band member.”
George appeared on ‘The X Factor’ in 2011 when he auditioned as a solo act, but was later added to group Triple J by Louis Walsh, creating the group now known as Union J.
He recently hit headlines after fans went crazy for a series of smouldering pictures he posted on Instagram, where he was looking very different to the 17-year-old fans were introduced to four years ago.
News that he could be heading Down Under follow reports that Kellie Maloney is also in talks to become a campmate.

The transgender boxing promoter appeared on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ last year, but the Daily Star claims she is keen for another dose of reality TV.
A source told the paper: “She’s a completely different personality to what we saw in CBB last year.
“She’s keen to go in, and would relish the challenge. She’d be great for the show.”
Other stars said to be entering the jungle include Made In Chelsea’s Spencer Matthews, TV chef Rustie Lee and former ‘X Factor’ creative director Brian Friedman.
