Supermodel Iman paid a touching public tribute to David Bowie, on their wedding anniversary.
On Monday (6 June), which commemorated the 24th anniversary of the couple’s wedding ceremony, Iman shared a throwback photo of the two of them, standing on a beach together and beaming into the camera.
The photo was accompanied by the message “the best part of you is me”, while Iman added: “June 6th... 24th wedding anniversary #foreverlove”
Opening up about her relationship with David in 2014, Iman insisted to the Guardian that the key to their happy marriage was leaving their public personas at the door.
She said at the time: “I fell in love with David Jones. Bowie is just a persona. He's a singer, an entertainer. David Jones is a man I met.”
Elaborating on this more recently, in an interview recorded before her husband’s death, Iman told Oprah Winfrey: “We both understand the difference between the person and the persona. When we are home we are just Iman and David. We’re not anybody else.
David Bowie died at the age of 69 in January, following a private battle with cancer.
His death sparked an outpour of grief from his fans around the globe, with tributes to him performed at both the Brit Awards and Grammys the following month.
