‘Emmerdale’ was the big winner at Monday night’s Inside Soap Awards, when - for only the second time in TV history - the ITV show took the highly-coveted Best Soap prize.

‘Emmerdale’ has gone from strength-to-strength during the last 12 months, and the soap’s team took home a total of 12 awards, including three for actor Michael Parr, who plays Ross Barton.

‘Coronation Street’ nabbed just three prizes, with star Alison King won the Best Actress gong, while the Best Showstopper prize went to ‘EastEnders’, commemorating their February live week.

The ‘EastEnders’ cast and crew picked up another three awards, with Tameka Empson, who plays the hilarious Kim Fox-Hubbard, scooping the Funniest Female accolade.

‘Hollyoaks’ and ‘Casualty’ each won two prizes, and Aussie soap ‘Neighbours’ nabbed three.

Soap fans will now their attention to the upcoming Christmas storylines, as our favourite fictional towns get ready for some festive drama.

There will then be an ITV shake-up in the New Year, when ‘Corrie’ boss Stuart Blackburn steps aside, making way for ‘Emmerdale’ producer Kate Oates.
