The Apple launch event on 7 March is just days away, and the rumours are swirling.
It's tradition when a new Apple product is announced to invent features we wished would appear on a new product that no-one, bar the tightknit crew inside Apple, knows anything about.
Here's a round-up of the rumours you need to know about:
The name
CNET reports that an Apple developer told them the new device launched on 7 March will be called the "iPad HD", not the iPad3. This could be right, given the iPhone 5 we all expected was instead called the iPhone 4S.
Gizomodo says iPad HD is a safe bet, having stumbled on a Griffin part listing that inadvertently refers to the new device by that name.
The screen
MacRumours claims to have scored a Retina HD screen from the new gadget. They say it will have twice the iPad2's resolution at 2,048 x 1,536 pixels.
Retina displays are so clear, it's impossible to define individual pixels.
A new chip
iPad 2 is powered by the Apple A5 processor chip, but it's all quadcore these days, as we learnt at Mobile World Congress.
The iPad HD, let's just call it that, should have an updated A6 chip, which could be quadcore or dualcore processor. Code for the operating system iOS 5.1 indicates that's highly likely, according to the iPhone 5 news blog.
The camera
Ever tried to take a photo with your iPad 2? It's a pretty shoddy result, so naturally the rumours have swung to a hot new camera set up.
Given that the mobile phones at MWC were so focussed on improving the cameras on mobile phones, it makes sense to upgrade the iPad's too. Could we see a Nokia-style 41 megapixel camera on the iPad HD?
