Hollie Rosenburg has had long hair for most of her life and has yet to find a shampoo that really, really gives it that celebrity sheen. So when someone suggested she try horse shampoo - reportedly the beauty secret of the stars - she didn't think twice...
It started with a horse getting its mane sudsy and ended with us humans wanting a piece of the action (by action I mean pretty amazing looking locks).
And now the beauty secret that Kim Kardashian, Demi Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jennifer Aniston reportedly swear by is out, and that secret is horse shampoo. Yup, you read correctly, HORSE SHAMPOO.
At first I was a bit unsure about trying it out - the thought of prancing around, smelling like a horse (yes, in my head the shampoo actually turns you into a horse) isn't really my idea of good times. Or beauty actually. But then I heard products intended for Hi Ho Silver were being backed by Liberty London and that kind of changed things. Liberty is cool and pretty and (I'm sure) wants me to have really good hair.
So where has this all come from then? One company specifically - Mane 'n' Tail. It started out as a shampoo formulator for ponies 40 years ago and - jealous creatures that we are - us humans couldn't stand the idea of beast looking better than man and ponypoo (er, I just came up with that on the fly) ended up in our soap bags.
Our glossy-haired American cousins are already huge fans, the shampoo is already available in Ireland and us Brits will be able to buy into equestrian beauty before 2013 is out.
To save everyone else in Blighty the trouble, I put the product to the test and have to say I am delighted with results. After a couple of washes, my mane - sorry - hair is shiny and soft. I can happily stroke it all day and feel no shame in inviting friends, family and people sitting next to me on the tube to join in.
The only negative is the smell - or should I say, the severe lack of. I like to be able to get a nice whiff of my hair after washing it, but with this product there isn't really much of a scent going on. There's a mild smell when you squirt the shampoo out of the bottle, but other than that - it's a little tame for my liking.

Hmmm, time will tell. Imagine all the cosmetic companies got on the bandwagon and having a horse shampoo started to really become a thing (A-Neigh-da, Tigi Hay Head, L'Oreal GELDvive)...
