You would be forgiven for thinking its only the girls who receive their A-level results on Thursday - judging by the number of pictures appearing in the paper.
We all know the story: photographer appears at school, snaps pretty young girls jumping in the air clutching their A-level results and grinning inanely while the boys skulk in the shadows.
Last year there was even something of a backlash, organised through the #waronblondes hash tag on Twitter and spearheaded by Christopher Cook, the FT's education correspondent but this year they're back.
It's a cliche but we'd be lost without it.
