A young Italian man whose body was found in a wheelie bin in north London has been pictured for the first time.
Erik San-Filippo was identified this week after the discovery of his body in a bin on Tollington Road, Islington, on Saturday.
The 23-year-old was reportedly wearing designer clothes and had no obvious signs of injury when his remains were found. His death is being treated as unexplained.
His mother, Carmen De Caro, told The Standard from the family home in Tuscany: “He was our prince. I am destroyed.”
A post-mortem examination has proven inconclusive and further tests are being carried out.
This week detectives investigating the death arrested and charged 52-year-old Gerardo Rossi with preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body.
Rossi, of Tollington Road, Islington, appeared at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on Friday and was remanded in custody.
He will appear in court on Friday, 14 June.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward by calling CID on 07827872423 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
