ITV1 is praying this year’s X Factor brings in viewers, after the channel's ratings reached an all-time low.
ITV1 had its lowest viewing figures in its 56 year history on Sunday night, reported The Sun newspaper.
An average of 800,000 people watched the channel on Sunday, less than half of BBC1’s average of 1.7 million.
The programmes shown on ITV1 this Sunday included Joanna Lumley's Nile documentary, talent contest Born To Shine and Law & Order: UK.
However, the slump could be short-lived as the X Factor starts again this Saturday, with new judges Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland. It's expected to pull in 10 million-plus audiences.
