There's going to be some soap rivalry in a certain celeb household after Jamie Lomas - husband of 'Coronation Street' star Kym Lomas - landed himself a part on 'EastEnders'.

The former 'Hollyoaks' star will join the BBC One soap in August, playing recovering alcoholic Jake Stone.

His wife, Kym has played Weatherfield regular Michelle Connor since 2006.

Speaking about his new role, Jamie said: "I'm over the moon to be joining the cast of EastEnders.

"I have admired the show for many years and I can't wait to start working with such a strong cast of actors. Jake Stone is a great character to play and I'm really looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into the role."

The show's executive producer Lorraine Newman said she expected Jamie to 'make a big impact on screen' when he appears on our screens this summer.

Kym was previously married to former 'EastEnders' star Jack Ryder who played Jamie Mitchell in the soap.
